An ex-pat Christmas.

A few scenes of Christmas in Africa (from an ex-pat's ridiculously sheltered perspective)...

Christmas decorations popped up here and there around town near the first of December.
At one point, this nativity also included a zebra, but the zebra appears to have moved on.
Nothing is ever done in one day. First the columns were wrapped in silver and garland, then the snowflakes and a week or two later ... Santa band showed up. Rock on, Santa!
In Yoruba, "Eko Oni Baje" means "May it be well with Lagos,"
or as Ade translated it, "Don't spoil Lagos."
To answer the question on everyone's minds...
Yes, Santa is black in Africa (and he drinks Coca-Cola).
Decorating the pre-lit, artificial Christmas tree. A first for me.
Daddy puts on the tree-topper; it's a family tradition.
Can you believe Scout found us in Africa? That Santa knows everything!
The kids are amazed to see Scout. You gotta love the magic of Christmas.
A few new decorations were added this year...
...including a hand-crafted ornament by the British Women's Group
Our Lagos "family": Ade our driver and Victor our steward.
I don't know what I would do without them.
